John Murnane spent forty years running a cancer research laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco, teaching cancer and cell biology to medical residents and graduate students. He received his PhD from UCLA in 1980.

After a long and rewarding career in science, retirement gave him the chance to do something he had always wanted  write novels.

His three novels draw from his real life experiences. A desert childhood, the history of vaccines, and the hidden world of medical research have all found their way into his fiction. His latest novel, Irreproducible Results, is a murder mystery set inside a research laboratory  the kind of story only someone who actually lived that world could tell.

John believes science becomes most powerful when people can connect with it. That belief runs through everything he writes.
